Microsoft OneDrive, a cloud storage space app for files and photos from Microsoft Corporation Microsoft.

Features

Automatic backup of albums (OneDrive for Android will soon include this feature), real-time collaboration with Office Web Apps, and video playback protocols that adapt to network speeds.

Usage Tips

Automatic backup of albums, i.e. OneDrive automatically uploads images from the device to the cloud for safekeeping without human intervention, so that even if the device fails, users can still access and view images from the cloud.

Online Office feature, Microsoft combines Office, the office software used by thousands of users, with OneDrive, allowing users to create, edit and share documents online, and to switch between local editing and local document editing at will, with local editing saved online or online editing saved locally. Online edited documents are saved in real time, which can avoid the loss of file content caused by downtime during local editing and improve the security of files.

Share specified files, photos, or entire folders by simply providing an access link to the shared content to other users, who can and will only have access to that shared content and not to the non-shared content.

Editor Review

The Microsoft desktop, laptop, and tablet apps were released on September 25th of 2015. Since its release, the application has had two updates and continues to bring new functionality and features. This app is designed for students studying abroad with a Microsoft account to keep up with their classes or stay connected to friends back home. This review will cover the current features of this app as well as what I believe needs improvement if it's going to be an effective tool for school-aged students living abroad. OneDrive has several unique features. The app is integrated with Office 365 thus allowing for editing in the mobile app. Microsoft has also built the app to be compatible with most Android and Apple iOS devices. Additionally, OneDrive offers 25GB of storage free to all users, which makes this an ideal cloud storage tool for students around the world. OneDrive's most useful feature is its integration with Office 365 that allows changes made on one device to be synced across all of your devices. This allows for writing on your phone during a commute or editing a document from your tablet when you get home from class. OneDrive is the only app in this review with text recognition. This feature allows users to take a picture of text and have it automatically transcribed into Word, PowerPoint, or PDF format. This feature can be helpful when taking pictures of printed material or your computer screen for sending through email. OneNote is integrated with OneDrive and is another way Microsoft has found to make productivity easier in their app.
