One would think that the Yahoo finance app would be obsolete by now, considering it debuted back in 1997. Yet, there are people that actually use it, myself included. I find the Yahoo finance app easy to navigate and understand. I also appreciate how simple it is for me to set my own watchlists, create custom stock screens and check out stocks over time with its handy chart feature. One of my biggest gripes with the Yahoo Finance app is that I cannot make a quick list of my favorite stocks. That's not a huge deal, but I do want to be able to watch a stock in real time. The Apple Stock app is an interesting piece of iOS 7. It blends beautifully with the new OS, yet it has a steep learning curve. You cannot simply swipe up to see your stocks in real time, nor can you view the charts in landscape mode. The Apple Stock app requires you to know which stock you are trading when you are trading it. That's fine if you are tracking only one stock, but if you are looking at several stocks simultaneously on your iPhone screen, it can get confusing. No matter how good an app is, the fundamental rule of thumb is that it should be easy to use. That's where Yahoo Finance shines. You don't need to search for anything on the site; everything that you want to see pops up on the main page instantly. The apps for iPad and iPhone are places where Yahoo Finance really shines.
